Mission
What We Do
At Read Play Love, we are dedicated to nurturing a love for literacy in young children through engaging play-based activities. Our center focuses on creating an inspiring environment where children can explore the world of reading through multisensory activities and purposeful play. Let's make reading fun again and inspire a future generation of readers to learn and explore our world through books and play. Grounded in research-based methods and foundational literacy skills, we utilize the power of multisensory experiences to enhance literacy development and language skills. Join us in this exciting journey as we read and play together!
Who We Are
I'm Shannon O'Donnell and the founder of Read Play Love. I'm a proud mom of two wonderful boys, aged 2.5 and 5 months, who keep me on my toes and fill my heart with joy. I've spent the past 12 years as a dedicated special education teacher, working in a variety of public school settings with students of all abilities. My passion is teaching children to read and, even more, inspiring them to fall in love with reading. There's nothing quite like watching a child's face light up when they unlock the magic of a book.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education and a Master's degree in Special Education. I'm also certified at the Associate Level in Orton-Gillingham and have experience with the Wilson Reading System. My teaching approach is centered around making learning fun, engaging, and meaningful by incorporating sensory play, creative activities, and hands-on experiences that bring books and learning to life. Whether in the classroom or at home with my little ones, my goal is always to create an environment where children feel supported, encouraged, and excited to explore the world of reading and beyond!
Classes and Programs Offered

Toddler and PreSchool Story Classes
At our Toddler and PreSchool story classes, we bring stories to life through reading, sensory activities, and dramatic play. Each session features an engaging read-aloud story, followed by hands-on sensory play that helps little ones connect with the narrative. Then, we dive into dramatic play, encouraging children to explore the story through their own creativity and imagination.

Adaptive Story Hours
Join us for an inclusive and engaging Adaptive Story Hour, where we create a sensory-friendly environment designed for our youngest and most sensitive learners. During this special class, we’ll read captivating stories while incorporating hands-on, interactive activities that promote learning and communication strategies through touch, sound, and movement.

Elementary Enrichment Classes
Our Afterschool Literacy Enrichment classes are designed to ignite a love for reading and writing in a fun, hands-on way. Each session aligns with literacy curriculum standards while incorporating playful, project-based learning. Through engaging projects, interactive games, and creative exploration, students will develop their reading, writing, and comprehension skills in a supportive and exciting environment.

Individual Tutoring
Enhance your child's literacy proficiency with our tailored tutoring sessions. Grounded in the priniciples of Orton-Gillingham, your student will receive focused support that will improve their decoding, reading comprehension, and fluency. IEP support can be provided, as needed.
